Adventures

I've come to learn it's never a bad idea to get out of the house.  Unless it's like 97° outside then it could possibly be a bad idea, but for the most part an adventure is good for everyone.  The boys are always much happier out seeing the world which, of course, makes me much happier as well.  I mean who doesn't enjoy going out to lunch?  Even with two babies little boys it can be quite pleasant.  That is, if you can look past loading everything and everyone into the car only to unload everything and everyone once you reach your destination which is usually only 5-10 minutes away.  It's a lot.  I've got it down by now, but I never fail to break a sweat in the process.  (Please note: 3 sets of stairs are involved in getting from the front door down to the van in the driveway.) Here's what comes with us:

2 plates
2 bibs
2 sippy cups
SNACKS
diapers and wipes
hand/face wipes
clean-up wipes
1 change of clothes (for them, but I should start bringing one for me as well come to think of it)
2 pairs of shoes/socks
sunscreen
2 hats
various toys and books
SNACKS (repeat, i know)
double stroller
2 babies little boys

Once we arrive, find parking, unload, and get a table and two highchairs (you'd be amazed by the number of places that don't bring the highchairs over for you, I usually have to get them myself) we settle in for a nice relaxing sweaty lunch. We usually try to sit outside so the boys can watch the cars go by.  It's a great distraction...but here is the key....SNACKS.  I like to call them "pre-lunch snacks" and they are a life-saver.  Keeps everyone occupied while you wait for your food.  I think that this is probably a good idea until around age 10, maybe 12.  So here it is.....

Incredulous
Back at home...they're content and i'm exhausted from my workout

A good week

Time is really flying.  The boys are getting so big.  They are more like little boys than babies suddenly.  Must be all the walking and talking.  Lots of milestones this week.  Jasper set a new world record for his personal best of 8 solo steps (can you tell I'm really into the Olympics?)  And they both just started saying so many words, "duck," "eyes" and "up" to name a few.  My favorite though is "all done" which for Wylie is synonymous with "more," "out" and "no."  He basically uses it to cover all his bases, so we're working on that.  We have our baby class today which is always (well, usually) fun and a very welcomed time to hang with other adults even if we are all singing and clapping like idiots for the entire hour.  It's just different, okay?  No, but overall it's been a really lovely week.  Love these kids, but I always look forward to my childless weekends.  Oh, the freedom.

The fun with this box lasted a good 25 minutes.  Score!

So much drool, so little time
This was really fun until....
this happened.  Oops.
Don't worry, he was totally fine.
Lunch...
I like to think of them as art pieces. I am a master of my craft.

Look at this little Olympian going for the gold!

The joys of walking

It's happening.  Biggie is walking.  Completely unassisted all the way from the kitchen through the dining room and into the living room.  Navigating turns and everything.  And Noodle is not far behind!  He's getting braver with his solo steps everyday.  It's all very exciting.  Seeing the joy on their faces is pretty amazing.  It's also pretty funny when they inevitably tumble down...somehow they always catch themselves and don't land on their faces (knock on wood).  Then, they always immediately look up at me with this face that says, "Did you see what I just did?  I'm SO awesome!!!"  To which I reply with claps and kisses and "Hoorays!" Sometimes it really is the little things.

Here's our new fun trick...we couldn't walk around like this just a few weeks ago

Yeah buddy!  Always has that right arm up...priceless.
