Superheroes take on the meadow...

There's a magical little place in Silverlake called "the Meadow" that the boys and I love to visit.  It's basically just a wide open green space, but the grass is so soft and the breeze coming off the reservoir is heavenly.   It's no ocean breeze, but hey, this is the Eastside (and we love it just the way it is).  The boys really dig being outside, and we are usually the only people there during the week.  I often find myself there with friends on the weekends, which is when it becomes a pretty popular hang-out.   There's just something about it.  I always have the urge to do a cartwheel (or 3) when I'm there.  Maybe it's the expansive green lawn that reminds me of growing up in Michigan where the grass is much more plentiful (and taken for granted).  I cannot wait until the boys are walking and we can run around and play superhero tag or pass around a soccer ball.  Cannot wait.

One big happy family

While I usually wear my nanny hat strictly Monday through Friday, I had all 3 charges non-stop Friday through Sunday this past weekend as their parents were away on business.  My parents decided that it would be a PERFECT time to visit from Michigan...to help out with the kids so I wouldn't go insane!  Secretly, I believe they only come visit to see their beloved grandson, Chopper, my Boston Terrier.  However, I could NOT have survived the weekend without them.  Especially Friday night when Fancy was WIDE-AWAKE from 1am to 4am because of a bad dream involving the "bird" that she and my mom had created during craft time.  I'll admit, the thing is slightly terrifying, but she wanted it displayed in her room only later demanding in the wee hours of the morning, "I want that bird outta my room. Now."   Despite the lack of sleep, we shared many laughs and managed to have a lot of fun with this crazy crew!  I was left wondering how single parents do all this on their own day after day after day.
Thanks Mom and Dad!
